Too Many Games, Not Enough Time

 Should you play Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order? Let me start this by saying that I have never cared about Star Wars. I was the jerk who said "oh it's overhyped, who cares, blah blah blah". (Doesn't it suck to look back on yourself and realize you were that guy?) Anyways, my friend bought me this game for Christmas and that made me feel obligated to play it. Him and I always talk progress in our games, so I wanted him to know that I appreciated the gift. I started it with little to no expectations, aside from what little I had heard from various internet sources(Spawn Wave I'm looking at you). I was immediately impressed with the presentation of the game. No, it's not perfect, or the most beautiful game ever made or anything like that, but it looks and plays great. And the first time you swing the lightsaber(dare i say it), you FEEL like a jedi. Microsoft just had a big Xbox showcase event at Summer Game Fest. Was it any good? It's an odd time for video games. On one hand, there are better, and more games than ever. But there is also a huge problem in the industry that is made very clear by the sheer number of mass layoffs and big studio closures. Microsoft has been at the forefront of these problems as they try to find footing with their all in bet on Gamepass as the future of gaming. We've seen significant studio closures in the form of Arkane Austin, creators of Dishonored, Prey, and Deathloop. Even Tango Gameworks, who released one of Xbox's best performing games of 2023, were just closed. Is anybody safe? That said, Xbox just showcased everything they have in the works for the next year or two at Summer Game Fest. Are they turning it around? Well, my answer would be a maybe.
